Nevada to Nicaragua
Students: Alyce Sutko, Nicole Tierny, Casey Allen, Dan Ross, Kristi Stanley, Kacey Durant, Joseph Ekstrand, Kelsey Worthington, Anneka Hooft, Colin West, and Megan Bailey
Ten first year medical students from the University of
Nevada School of Medicine and one University of Washington student will be going on a medical mission to Siuna,
Nicaragua to provide free medical care for people who are unable to obtain medical
care in their rural community. For two weeks the students will be giving
check ups, taking care of minor procedures, and educating the community on
healthcare. Bridges to Communities is the program that set up the
location and logistics of the trip.
In order to help the students fund
the trip and medical supplies there will be a silent auction taking place April
12, 2008 at 5:30pm in Pennington Building Foyer. Tickets can be paid for
before hand or at the door. Ticket prices will be $25 per person or $10
for students and children 12 and under. The auction list is posted below
and will be updated as items are received. Please
support the local students in their humanitarian effort to provide medical
service to the underprivileged and who represent the university and the community!
